Brief History:
The newest of the women's dormitories began construction in 1967. The design was a new experimental concept whereby eight unit sweets, four stories high, would surround a rectangular court yard. The dormitory was completed by the fall of 1968 and was soon labeled the Atrium Dormitory for unique courtyard. The dormitory was designed to accommodate 316 students. On December 7, 1995, the Atrium Dormitory was officially renamed Cooper Hall in honor of Governor Prentice Cooper. It presently serves as both a men's and women's dormitory.
