Board of Education for the City of Martin
1901-1912, 1936-1940

The Martin City Board of Education was organized in 1908 to replace the district school system which was begun earlier in the decade. The primary function of the Board was to establish, organize and maintain all publicity governed schools with in the Martin City limits. The collections contains the monthly minutes and records of the City of Martin, Tennessee (Weakley County), Board of Education from 1909 to 1912 and 1936 to 1940. Minutes of the activities of the City Board included recommendations, announcements, resolutions, board practices, financial reports, school repairs and other related materials regarding city schools.
