A major in English with an emphasis in literature includes courses on both American and British prose and poetry as well as special-topics courses on writing from particular time periods and populations. Students will hone their critical reading skills and be able to analyze and compare writings to share new ideas based on works of literature.
“What I enjoy the most about the English and Modern Foreign Languages department is that all the professors take time out of their day to help, encourage, or read the academic or creative writing of students, which is an essential part of my major and person. ”
