Ken VanVuren has been at The University of Tennessee at Martin for ten years and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor of Accountancy. Dr. VanVuren received his undergraduate degree in finance from The University of Cincinnati in 1975. He holds M.B.As from the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University (OH) in finance and accounting, respectively. Dr. VanVuren has also earned a Masters of Accountancy degree from Miami University (OH) and his Ph.D. in accountancy is from The University of Mississippi. He holds a CPA license (non-practicing) from the state of Ohio, and is a CMA and CIA.
While at UT Martin, Dr. VanVuren has taught principles of financial accounting, auditing, advanced accounting, financial statement analysis, and M.B.A-level business policy; but his main areas of teaching expertise are managerial and cost accounting at the intermediate, and graduate levels. Dr. VanVuren has published articles in peer-reviewed academic journals in the areas of ERP systems, business ethics, learning skills in business education, and financial analysis. Presently, his primary research interest lies in the area of effectively analyzing, interpreting, and forecasting cash flow for small to medium-sized businesses.
