Ronald Kilgore is professor of Accounting at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was born in Paris, Tennessee in 1941 and attended Adkins-Porter elementary school and E.W. Grove High School. Immediately prior to the commencement of his junior year at high school, he performed a roll-over dive and suffered a broken neck at a football camp on Kentucky Lake. After spending 16 months in 3 different hospitals and a rehab center in New York, Dr. Kilgore continued his high school education. He graduated from UT Martin in 1969 with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. Following graduation he attended the University of Mississippi where he earned an MBA and a Ph.D. in Business Administration, with a major in accounting.
At the completion of his education, Dr. Kilgore taught for a year at the University of Mississippi as an associate professor before returning to UT Martin to teach in 1975. His teaching interests include tax, as well as managerial, financial, advanced, and non-profit accounting. His research interests are in the area of "Managed Earnings." During his spare time, he enjoys watching sports on TV and eating at nice restaurants.
