Lizzie Emmons, Programs and External Operations Coordinator for the Department of Music, completed her bachelor’s degree in Music Education (2014) and master’s in Clinical Counseling (2017) at the University of Tennessee at Martin. During her master’s program, Emmons served as an intern at STAR Center where she was able combine her music and counseling knowledge to serve clients. She also served as the graduate assistant for the Department of Music at UT Martin, providing administrative assistance, community outreach, and graphic design for the department.
After graduation, Emmons provided bereavement services to hospice patients and families, utilizing creative arts therapy techniques for grief support. She is deeply passionate about arts advocacy, and has been a guest presenter in the region including being the main presenter at UT Martin’s ARTStanding event and co-presenter the Tennessee Disabilities MegaConference where she spoke on the benefits of the arts on mental health.
Emmons is currently involved with arts advocacy initiatives through the Weakly Arts Can (WAC) organization. WAC seeks to promote and advocate for the arts in West Tennessee.
