About Skyhawk Battalion ROTC

Our Army ROTC program enables students to become Commissioned Officers in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. The overall mission of Army ROTC is to commission future U.S. Army leaders. The University of Tennessee Martin Army ROTC prepares students for succeed in any competitive environment.

The Skyhawk Battalion provides a number of different advantages for our cadets. The Battalion distinguishes itself amongst other ROTC programs in the region by providing ample access to cadre and staff. Students have increased access to cadre, instructors, and staff in order to provide one-on-one personal attention. Our cadre are professionals that dedicate their time to ensuring the cadets are well trained. Our intimate program allows cadets to develop with guidance provided by highly experienced Commissioned Officers, Noncommissioned Officers, and Veterans that staff the program, giving them a strategic advantage to communicate daily with these individuals to help determine their pathway.

We develop strong leaders that are prepared to handle situation in a rapidly changing environment. A Skyhawk Cadet is a well-rounded, an organized leader, a team player, a scholar in academics, a strong communicator, and a technical expert in individual and team collective tasks. Students whose career goals require leadership, managerial skills, interest in national defense structure, and those students who wish to explore the benefits of the U.S. Army are encouraged to enroll in the introductory military science courses. The Skyhawk Battalion is an excellent place for a student looking to better their life in every aspect.

Undergraduate Programs of Study

Admissions Requirements

The Basic Course normally takes place during your first two years in college as elective courses. It involves one elective class or lab each semester. You will learn basic military skills and the fundamentals of leadership, as well as start the groundwork toward becoming an Army leader. You can take Army ROTC Basic Course without a military commitment.

Financial Opportunities for College

There are a variety of scholarship opportunities that can be awarded to individuals seeking leadership challenges. Cadets who actively engage in the program and meet all the standards can acquire a 4-yr, 3-yr, 2.5-yr, or 2-yr scholarship to pay for college. Some of these scholarships can include full tuition payment or a $12K Annual Housing allotment and $1200 Annual Book Scholarship. Other financial opportunities, include:
