A Unique Curriculum

  • University Scholars complete seven courses that engage individuals with the world in which we live.
  • Study the works and ideas that have shaped the world’s past into our present moment.
  • Pursue an education that asks you to study academic disciplines and yourself as the subject of life-long learning.
University Scholars Medaling Ceremony

An Exceptional Community of Leaders in Service

  • Through the University Scholars Organization, University Scholars create and lead programs to give back time and talent to UT Martin’s campus, student body, community, and region.
  • All University Scholars give a minimum of 15 hours of service each semester to local

A World to Study and Explore

  • As part of their undergraduate experience, University Scholars participate in funded study abroad.
  • Nothing teaches us more about our own society, our culture, and ourselves than traveling and studying away from home. 
  • The benefits of study abroad are profound and positive—and have a life-long impact.

Experiential Learning Beyond the Classroom

  • University Scholars regularly attend off-campus cultural events that deepen and enrich their undergraduate experience.
  • Cultural events are visits to museums and state parks, symphony concerts, theatrical productions, academic conferences and cultural lectures—or the event you bring the Scholars to because of your passion and interest

A Living Learning Community

  • Live in a community of your peers who are here at UT Martin pursuing the same shared goals of academic success, development as individuals, and making a positive difference in the world. 
  • University Scholars enjoy access to reserved housing in their program’s LLC located in Cooper Hall.
