TESS FAQs

Click here to begin and follow five easy steps to get started!

Step 1: Create an account. For best results, create a login account so that you can save your transfer and degree evaluations and return to it at later date for updating courses completed and intended degrees.

Step 2: Answer a few questions about your intended start date and desired UTM degree. A list of UTM programs is available here: Degree Programs.

Step 3: Select your institution(s) and courses you took including which term. Please include courses from all institutions you have previously attended or currently attending.

  • The designation LD for lower-division credit and UD for upper-division credit will be used if no UTM equivalent course exists. LD and UD credits may be applied toward degree requirements that do not designate specific course number requirements.
  • Do not be concerned if a course that you have completed at another institution is not found, that is an indicator that we have not previously evaluated the course.
  • If your course work was prior to 1995, please use our Transfer Equivalency Table to find the UTM equivalent.

Step 4: Review your unofficial degree evaluation for your intended degree at UTM.

  • Please be aware that if you are a Tennessee Transfer Pathway student that the articulation agreement may increase courses used towards your UTM degree. The Records Office may be contacted for more information.

Please note that the transfer and degree evaluation reports that you have created are NOT official. Rather, they should be used as a guide to help you understand how your classes taken at previous institutions may transfer to UTM and may apply to degree requirements. Official transfer and degree evaluations are not completed until you have submitted your official transcripts and you are fully admitted to UTM.

Tennessee Reconnect

Tennessee Reconnect is the Drive to 55 initiative that will help more adults return to a college campus to complete their postsecondary credential. The Tennessee Reconnect Act establishes a last-dollar scholarship for adults to attend a community college tuition-free. With this extension of the Drive to 55, which comes at no additional cost to taxpayers, every Tennessean will have the opportunity to enter or reenter public higher education with no tuition expenses. Tennessee Reverse Transfer

Tennessee Reverse Transfer is a process that allows transfer students to combine their four-year college credits with community college credits to receive an associate degree. Students must have attended a Tennessee community college and be enrolled in a participating Tennessee four-year institution. There is no cost to the student for this reverse transfer. Students must have previously earned a minimum of 15 college credits towards associate degree and have earned a combined minimum total of 60 college credits. For more information, visit https://tnreversetransfer.org/.

Tennessee Transfer Pathways (TTPs)

Tennessee Transfer Pathways (TTPs) are advising tools designed to help community college students plan for transferring to a Tennessee public university or select regionally accredited, non-profit, Tennessee private colleges and universities to complete their baccalaureate degree. The TTPs also constitute an agreement between community colleges and four-year colleges/universities confirming that community college courses meet major preparation requirements.

Tennessee Transfer Pathway for The University of Tennessee at Martin

How Do the Pathways Work?

A student who completes all the courses listed on a particular Transfer Pathway will earn an A.A. or A.S. degree at the community college. When the student transfers to a Tennessee public or private college/university the transcript will certify that the pathway has been followed. The student is guaranteed that all the community college courses taken will be accepted at the college/university and the courses will count toward completion of the particular major.

If a community college student transfers to another Tennessee community college, he or she is guaranteed that all courses transfer. You can view the UT Martin equivalency tables at http://www.utm.edu/offices-and-services/academic-records/transfer-equivalency-tables.php
