Eligibility
- A completed application packet is required for each student before the applicant will be considered. Documentation of intellectual disability as well as an Individualized Education Program (or equivalent) are required. Upon application, it is expected that students will demonstrate the following minimal requirements:
- Active student participation throughout the application/interview process
- Have proof of eligibility for IDEA or 504 accommodations while in school
- Possess, or expect to possess prior to beginning the SAIL program, a state-recognized high school diploma in any of the 4 TN Diploma Pathways: Regular, Special Education, Alternative, or Occupational
- A 4th-grade reading level or higher is recommended
- No severe behavior or emotional problems
- Basic mathematics understanding and ability to use a calculator
- Ability to function independently for a sustained period of time
- Ability to change supports and schedules without becoming overly stressed
- Ability to be successful in competitive employment situations
- Desire and motivation to complete a postsecondary education program
- Be between the ages of 18 and 26 at the start of the program
- Demonstrate ability to communicate with staff, faculty, and mentors

Cost and Financial Support
The cost of the SAIL program is the standard University of Tennessee tuition and fees.
